The Salford Cottage at The Black Horse near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire has welcomed its first guests. The new Cotswolds pub group, Lionheart Group, opened the doors of this new venue, just outside of Chipping Norton, and has undergone extensive refurbishment to reinstate this precious asset at the heart of the community.
The kitchen will serve all-day lunches, pub classics and a relaxed dinner menu set around the grill and rotisserie - sourced within 20 miles where possible. The Salford Cottage, a stylish bedroom suite, will host overnight guests in this enviable village location.
The opening is the first of a pipeline of new openings for the Lionhearth Group over the next 12 months. "We're excited to welcome locals and visitors back to one of our favourite spots outside of Chipping Norton, The Black Horse in Salford," said Scott Macdonald, managing director, Lionhearth Group. "We've given the property a new lease of life, with stylish interiors that retain that all-important pub feel."
The Black Horse will present a selection of the finest local beers and an impressive wine menu. Guests can tuck into simple lunches and pub classics throughout the week, with an additional dinner menu available in the evening. All dishes will celebrate the finest quality local produce cooked to perfection and thoughtfully served with a choice of sides made for sharing. Expect generous prime rib or porterhouse cuts from the grill, whole free-range chickens from Adlington Farm cooked rotisserie, and tempting sides; hassleback potatoes, rotisserie onions, mac and cheese, BBQ corn and garlicky field mushrooms.
The interiors will retain the character of the property while injecting some warmth into the cosy corners. Inside the pub guests can expect deep hues of maroon and forest green paired with dark antique wood, classic panelling and soft mood lighting. The Salford Cottage will feature a more neutral palate in the bedroom and living spaces with warm accents to create a tranquil and welcoming retreat for overnight guests.
Located fust 2.5 miles from Chipping Norton, the charming village of Salford is perfectly placed for the endless walks around Oxfordshire - many routes pass by the front door making The Black Horse the ideal stop for fuel. A short drive will transfer guests to the typical Cotswold attractions, Daylesford Organic Farm Shop, Soho Farmhouse, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold. Trains from London arrive in Kingham in less than 90 minutes.
